The Best Work at Home Jobs for Moms in 2024

There are so many incredible job opportunities for busy moms who want to make money with kids at their feet. It's the reason I started The Joyful Work at Home Mama community in the first place...I want to empower moms to start a profitable at-home business using their natural gifts and talents AND equip them with the necessary training on how to get rolling!

Moms just like you are juggling profitable at-home businesses alongside naps, feedings, and the myriad of tasks that come with being a mom.

I've been shouting this from the rooftops on podcasts and social media, but it's a message worth repeating. As I curate the ultimate list of work-at-home jobs for moms, I always ask myself these 3 questions:

1) Is it LUCRATIVE? The opportunities must be be financially rewarding. Moms deserve a job that not only respects their skills but also makes an impact on their finances. If it's going to take even a moment of focus from your other priorities, you deserve to be paid and paid well!

2) Is it REALISTIC with KIDS? No more juggling acts that require three hands. These jobs need to be practical and doable, even with little ones running around. You can't be required to be on a zoom or phone call all day or tied to a computer 24/7. Honestly, in order to have a sustainable work at home position, you NEED to be able to set your own schedule because babies and young kids are often unpredictable.

3) Is it ENJOYABLE? Let's face it – if it's not enjoyable, it's not sustainable. Moms deserve a job that brings joy, satisfaction, and a sense of accomplishment. It's about more than just paying the bills; it's about doing something you love.

Here's the magic: when all three criteria align, it's not just a job; it's a recipe for success. It's the perfect concoction for stay-at-home moms seeking an income stream and for those currently working outside the home who dream of being with their babies without sacrificing financial contribution.

Getting to be a work-at-home mama has been a huge blessing to me and my family! No scrambling around to find childcare or paying outrageous amounts for daycare. So not only do I bring IN money to my family, I also avoid spending money to pay someone else to care for my child during the day. I love all of the time I get with my daughter...it truly is priceless!

1) Social Media Manager: Social media has become a powerful tool for businesses to connect with their audience. As a social media manager, moms can leverage their creativity and organizational skills to curate engaging content, schedule posts, and interact with followers. Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and even LinkedIn are always in need of skilled individuals who can boost a brand's online presence. Instead of spending time scrolling on social media and consuming content, put that time and effort into creating content! Many businesses, especially small businesses, do not have the bandwidth to hire a full marketing team so they're on the hunt for people to do the job remotely. It's a win-win for businesses and moms to come together!

A common misconception when I talk to moms about social media management is that they themselves need to be posting on their personal social media accounts. Nope, not true! NONE of my clients cared if I had an engaging personal social media page. They simply wanted me to make their business page come alive- a very different task than a personal page!

2) Copywriter: Freelance copywriting is an excellent option for moms who enjoy writing. I remember the day I found out businesses paid good money to have someone else write for them. I thought, "Wow! Dream job!" So what do copywriters do? They craft written content for websites, blogs, newsletters, and more. Whether it's writing product descriptions, creating catchy taglines, or developing blog posts, the demand for skilled copywriters remains high. This role allows moms to express their creativity while working on a flexible schedule. Fun fact- copywriting for businesses is how I originally started my digital marketing agency (which grew enough to allow my husband and I both to leave our 9 to 5 jobs!)

3) Selling Digital Products: Ever thought about turning your expertise into a digital product? Create e-books, printables, or online courses and let your knowledge shine. It's like opening a shop from the comfort of your home, where you're the boss of your creations. The beauty of digital products? You create it ONCE and can sell it an infinite number of times! Everyone has a unique skillset to share with the world...

4) Online Teaching or Tutoring: This is an awesome option for my fellow educators (and those hoping to leave their teaching job) but can also be an opportunity for anyone to share your skillset in a 1:1 or small group setting. Before I left teaching, I was tutoring 6-8 students a week in-person. I enjoyed it but now that I have a child, I think it would be much more challenging to meet up or have a student come over for focused work time (moms of busy littles understand why!) But Zoom has changed the tutoring landscape, cutting out the need to leave your house or have any commute time. You could schedule 30 minute, 45 minute, or hour long sessions for when your child is napping or asleep for the night and work with a student needing some additional academic support. The other good thing about doing it via Zoom? You can work with students from anywhere- how cool! I have friends who teach English to kids around the world through VIPKid. Definitely rewarding!

5) Affiliate Marketing

This is more a long game income stream, but we can't talk about profitable income streams for moms in 2024 without mentioning affiliate marketing. Moms of all ages and stages are embracing the flexibility of affiliate marketing, a relatively new avenue for generating income from home. By promoting products they believe in through unique affiliate links, they earn commissions for each sale. This allows moms to seamlessly integrate work into their busy schedules, whether through product reviews, lifestyle tips, or engaging social media content. This will work best if you have a social media following, blog, YouTube channel, etc. If that's not your thing- no worries! Lots of busy mamas prefer to be behind the scenes and don't want to promote products so one of the previous 4 work at home options will likely be a better fit! But for those who enjoy sharing about products they use and love, affiliate marketing can be quite profitable.
